Should we worry about inflation?
Inflation has not featured as a major concern for investors for many years, but that may now be changing. Inflation measures in many developed economies, including the UK, are currently running some way above central bank targets. Is this likely to be a short-term issue reflecting temporary supply chain and other Covid-19 related constraints? Or will the impact of the massive monetary and fiscal stimulus packages during the pandemic result in inflation becoming embedded in the longer term? Our panel discusses their expectations for inflation and the implications for LGPS investment strategy.
